Well, for starters I am a twenty something wife, fitness professional, and balanced living enthusiast.  I hold a B.S. in Health Education and Behavior specializing in Fitness/Wellness from the University of Florida.  Along with my degree I hold a couple of certs: ACSM – cPT & NSCA – CSCS.  Currently, I’m in grad school and work full-time.  I absolutely LOVE my husband, family, friends, dog (LARS) and my job.  That’s all the boring stuff….BLAH, BLAH, BLAH…

Growing up I was always active, I danced, played sports and even ran a little bit but it wasn’t until I graduated from college that I realized the importance of BALANCE.  I believe that a lot of people lose sight of balance and get too caught up in the way they look.  Don’t get me wrong, looking good is always a major incentive for staying healthy but good health goes beyond outside appearance.  Good health encompasses all different areas of our lives such as, happiness, fitness, nutrition, wellbeing, self-esteem…you get the point.  This was a turning point in my life; when I finally discovered that it’s not about how fast I run, how low my body fat can go, or how many push-ups I can do…It’s about how I feel in my own skin!  (Mushy, mushy…ewww).

My purpose for this blog is to help educate people about balanced healthy living.  R2R is really about helping people find their inner purpose for their health. I find that when you can connect to a meaningful purpose you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.  Finding a reason helps you stay committed to your mission.  I will use the words purpose & mission & reason a lot, all are interchangeable but all are IMPORTANT!    I also hope to distill some misinformation (Fact or Fiction Section) about health and fitness.  I promise to tell you the whole science-based TRUTH!  My hope is that you can use this blog as motivation, inspiration, or enhancement for your current healthy living routine.

Selfishly, I also started this blog because I wanted a better way to hold myself accountable for all of the missions that I embark upon.  You can find them under the BUCKET LIST tab.  It is a way for me to document my running, food, travels, and trials and tribulations of life.

I’ll finish with my personal R2R:

For me, running is a passion.  I love it and don’t know what I would do without it. BUT I always run for a reason that is more meaningful than vanity and even health.  I run for hope, I run to find a cure, I run for the men, women, and children that have and/or are fighting their battle with cancer, for those who we’ve lost and most importantly I run for my momma who fought and WON her battle!!!  I’m dedicated to find a cure and will continue to run until cancer is obliterated!  Though I am more closely connected with cancer awareness I’m never opposed to running for any type of cause!
